It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of bassist Ricardo Azevedo, who was to be DKANDLE's bassist. He passed away in June.
I am still in shock with the news. Ricardo was a great friend of mine. I met him in Rio, when he was still a teenager. The affinity between us was immediate. We became friends and would visit each other's homes. After a few years we came to live in Europe, me in Italy and he in Holland. I visited him a few times and stayed at his house. Last year I invited him to be the bass player in DKANDLE and he accepted. We were really excited. I sent him the bass lines to practice.
We didn't actually get to rehearse together, mainly because of the Covid-19 restrictions. We were supposed to meet in July to finally rehearse the songs together. We were going to meet at least once a month to rehearse (although he lived in another country, there are super cheap flights from here to there). But unfortunately our plans were interrupted by this tragic event.
I am devastated... Ricardo was a very good guy. I will miss our chats a lot, he was very intelligent. It is a great loss, and I will miss him very much.
Rest in Peace, my dear friend. You will live forever in my heart.
R.I.P. RICARDO AZEVEDO
